Swami Yogasagar has developed a unique method of teaching specific yoga asana’s and pranayama. He has borrowed techniques and methods from other professional healing modalities to facilitate the safe practice of yoga. His approach is to adapt and modify the asana to suit the natural alignment of the individual student.
We do not force the body to imitate the picture perfect asana. It is far more important that you can relax into a comfortable pose that resembles the asana even if you feel that the pose is only partially correct
Once the student has developed the natural ability to relax into a comfortable pose with awareness they can then begin to gently increase the range of movement and experience their own natural alignment.
The teacher interacts with the student to facilitates an improvement in the range of movement and indicates to the student how they can naturally manipulate their bodies without force. The techniques used by the teacher are proven and widely used in a many professional healing modalities including physiotherapy, osteopathy and craniosacral therapy.
Swami Yogasagar also includes methods he has learnt from his interest and studies of Shiatsu, Jin Shin Do Polarity Therapy and Prana Vidya.
